A Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3 (KS2 / KS3) French basics revision games and activities BUNDLE, ideal for fun vocabulary consolidation. It includes a giant crossword, 5 differentiated Snakes and Ladders boards, six 10-card loop games, a jigsaw puzzle and a Greetings and Introductions board. All printable, with answer keys where relevant. SNAKES AND LADDERS: Beginners French Speaking Games: 5 printable gameboards, with differentiation, for Snakes and Ladders (Serpents et Echelles) to practise basic French vocabulary orally. Any clues not managed could perhaps be looked up online or in a French dictionary. It’s fine in A4 but if you are using it with a larger group you might want to print in A3. Answer and instruction cardsare included. Boards 1 and 2 feature French words to be translated into English, while boards 3 and 4 feature English words to be translated into French. Board 5 is for lower ability pupils and features pictures and multiple choice answers. Most vocabulary comes from these topics: calendar (le calendrier) - days (les jours de la semaine), months (les mois), dates etc. numbers (les nombres / les numeros) introductions and greetings weather (la meteo / le temps) classroom objects (les objets de la classe) colours (les couleurs) GIANT FRENCH BASICS CROSSWORD: Beginners French vocabulary writing revision activity for French Numbers (Les Nombres / Les Numeros), Calendar (Days, Months, Dates - Les Jours, Les Mois, La Date), Greetings and Introductions, Colours (Les Couleurs), Weather (La Meteo / Le Temps), Classroom Objects (Les Objets de la Classe) and more. A large (about 100 clues) crossword puzzle, ideal for group work, with children perhaps competing against other groups to solve the puzzle as fast as possible. In addition to the Crossword Solution, there is also an alphabetical list of answers which you can give out to pupils for support where necessary. It’s fine in A4 but if you are using it with a larger group you might want to print in A3. FRENCH GREETINGS AND INTRODUCTIONS GAMES: Beginners French Speaking Games for this key area. A board game and vocabulary card for fun practice of basic French greetings (les salutations), farewells and introductions (Je me presente / Introducing myself), six 10-card loop games and a jigsaw puzzle. Instructions for all activities are included. With the board game, students take turns to roll a dice and move the appropriate number of spaces. They have to say aloud in French the word, phrase or question they land on, otherwise they return to the space they came from. 3 versions are included (with minor changes around nationality and country to suit different locations). The vocabulary card can be provided for support where required. There are also six 10-card loop games, which are coloured differently. If printing in black and white use different coloured card to help keep them separate. Designed for oral practice in small groups, with a student reading out the English word or phrase on their card and others checking if they have the French translation, then reading this out - and so on until the loop is completed. In each loop you can start at any point. With the jigsaw puzzle, print, laminate and cut out the 16 triangular pieces. Students match key French vocabulary with English translations to build a larger triangle. For previews and further information, please see the individual resources. French Colours (Les Couleurs)

(0)
KS2 / KS3 Beginners French Language Colours / Colors vocabulary PowerPoint lesson presentation, printable games, activities, a worksheet, crossword and word search. Introduction and revision of 11 French colour (or color) words. The colours are introduced using the questions ‘C’est quelle couleur?’ (referring to the colour itself) and ‘C’est de quelle couleur?’ (referring to the colour of objects / animals etc).   My FSL / MFL French basics resources and units suit students beginning French, near beginners (and intermediate learners for revision) in: Upper Primary (Key Stage 2) - Year 4, 5, 6 (Y4 Y5 Y6) Secondary (Key Stage 3) - especially Year 7 and 8 (Y7 / Y8) Equivalents such as Grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 Core French in Canada May suit others, depending on experience   The presentation suits learners who are new or fairly new to French but it also includes teaching points about female and plural forms of the colour adjectives, which you can use if appropriate, plus an introduction to the words for ‘light’ and ‘dark’ colours. With almost 50 slides, it also includes pronunciation tips, an interactive Kim’s game and a slide for a splat game, where children can ‘splat’ the colour that’s been said in French by the teacher. Students are also invited to show the teacher classroom objects of a particular colour so if they already know the name of some classroom objects this will help. Alternatively, they could learn some for this activity. An additional US spelling version of the presentation is included. The Four in a Row game works well in either A3 or A4 and can be used with the colour word cards. Use different colour paper or card when printing the word cards so that opponents can play with a different colour set. Students put their cards in a pile, taking the top one and choosing strategically which space to place it on (as long the colour on the space matches the word on the card!). Or laminate the board and students mark on their initial with a dry-wipe marker if they correctly say the colour in French. First to get four in a row - vertically, horizontally or diagonally - is the winner. There are also 8 cards for games of bingo and/or noughts and crosses (tic tac toe) and a 20-card ‘I Have…Who Has?’ game / Loop game. This latter resource features some light and dark versions of the colours. The worksheet is included with and without a word bank for support. Full answer keys for the worksheet and puzzles. It teaches children how to answer questions such as 'Qu’est-ce que c’est? (What it it?) and ‘Tu as une gomme / un crayon?’ (Do you have an eraser / pencil? etc). Includes words for door, window, chair, other furniture as well as pencil-case / schoolbag / stationery / school supplies items ( dans ma trousse / dans mon sac / mes affaires). Un Jeu de Kim (Kim’s Game) is a memory game and works well with groups competing to be the first to write the correct French word on their whiteboard for the object that is missing. ‘Frappez les Objets’ is a ‘Splat’ game, where a small group competes to hit or point at the correct picture when the teacher says the French object. A non-interactive PDF version of the PowerPoint is also included in case you don’t have PowerPoint. In most cases where terms differ between UK English and US English, both terms have been included.
